Royal Naval Association

Luton & Dunstable Branch

Area 6

Once Navy - Always Navy

About Us

A Brief History.

Luton and Dunstable Branch of the Royal Naval Association was first formed on 15 February, 1968. An advert was inserted in the Luton News for ex Royal Navy personnel to meet at the Queen’s Head Public House in Chapel Street and this was the birth of the Royal Naval Association in Luton and Dunstable.

Many of the founder members have now Crossed the Bar but there is still one founder member, S/m John Robinson (Branch President) .

The Branch, at that time, met in many places, one of course was the Queen’s Head and alternate months members met in Dunstable at a Public House (the name at the moment has escaped the memory of many). For a while we met in the Drill Hall and had some good Social Evenings. Then, after a lot of hard work, we acquired Diadem House. Unfortunately rising costs defeated our aspirations and we have now returned to the Royal British Legion at Leagrave and Limbury, Marsh Road, Luton. Branch meetings are held on the FIRST and THIRD WEDNESDAY of each month at 20.00 hours.

Ex members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Merchant Navy are welcome to attend the meetings and become members. Serving members of the Royal Navy are welcome to visit at anytime
